I’m Paul. I like people, and I love stories.
When I talked with Benson about this project, two things popped into my head: how do I tell good stories of people after having known them for a limited amount of time, and how do I do it without feeling like at the end of the day, I’m just trying to sell a shirt?
In other words, how do you tell an honest story?
First, I believe that everybody has a sense of “gravity” based on their lifelong experiences that channels into everything they do. For the normal person, this gravity fluctuates throughout the day depending on their mood and environment. But there is a core point of gravity that doesn’t ever go anywhere.
Usually, there are a few stories that are representative of the “gravity.” Through these stories, I want to be able to shed as much light to the character as possible. I don’t claim to “know” the people I’ve written about, and naturally, the stories you read are not totally emblematic of the person they are.
Second, Imaginary Zebra – the people involved, the website, the designs, and the company – does not compromise the integrity of these stories. If it does, you wouldn’t be reading this. I just promise to keep what little I’ve seen of the people as honest as possible. That’s it.
Whatever drove you to this website, I hope you enjoy some of these stories. A lot of times we don’t slow down enough to get to know those around us. I know that I don’t all the time, but I hope that by writing about these people, I give myself (and maybe even you) a small nudge to change that.
love,
